About me
My name is Ilona van Dantzig
Before you sign up your child to tutoring with me, you'd probably like to know a little more about me, my background and qualifications.
I am the tutor for primary school and early secondary in my practice Illumnify Tutoring. I:

am a fully qualified primary teacher and have taught various age groups as a class teacher for 10 years.

have 10 years of experience of maths remedial teaching and tutoring

7 years as a Learning Support Coordinator (or Intern Begleider in Dutch).

have an advanced diploma in ' Overcoming Barriers to Learning in Mathematics.'
Overall, I have 20+ years in education.
It is my mission to support children and young people to grow their confidence in themselves and their abilities; and to fulfil their potential. This initially with a focus in maths. Everybody is capable of maths given the right support and teaching; and it is vital in our everyday lives as well as careers. I have also extended into supporting study skills (including organisation) as a lack in these skills can stop a student from showing their full potential.
I provide a personalized approach, looking at the whole student and their needs, strengths and interests. For me the key to any good tutoring is building a relationship with your child, and really connecting with them to understand what works for them. I also work on building their confidence, self-knowledge and shifting their mindset if needed. I do this using my strengths of patience, tenacity, openness and understanding, and ability to bring my full presence and attention. I also use the skills I have gained through my transformative coaching qualification from Animas (accredited by the International Coaching Federation and European Mentoring and Coaching Centre) as appropriate.
